Michael, Consultant
I started at Roland Berger in September, together with other Junior Consultants. We immediately took off to Germany for our kick-off, a training for new joiners recruited by Roland Berger worldwide. During these two weeks, I learned basic consulting skills, solved challenging cases and, of course, socialized with all the new colleagues, some of whom I still see regularly.
Upon returning to Belgium I was staffed on my first project! Our client was a large aviation maintenance repair & overhaul provider (MRO). We were asked to perform an operational performance review of the client as well as to identify performance improvement levers to adapt the client's business model to a changing environment. Over the course of four months we tackled the project with a team consisting of a principal, a senior consultant and one other junior consultant.
My main tasks consisted of gathering information, performing client interviews, analyzing specific topics, and preparing and documenting some of our final recommendations. In the analysis part I had responsibility over the full performance review of one of the client's maintenance divisions.
Since then I have worked on several other projects, including a Due Diligence in the Consumer Goods sector in Paris. I've been amazed by how much I could learn in such a short amount of time as well as the amount of client contact that I've had from the start. What I've enjoyed the most, however, is the great atmosphere amongst colleagues as well as the young environment that I work in. This makes my job that much more fun and stimulating.
