Mathias, Junior Consultant

My personal history prior to joining Roland Berger Strategy Consultants

I graduated from the Solvay Business School of Economics and Management with a major in Finance. As a student, I had the opportunity to study abroad at the National University of Singapore and to travel around South-East Asia and India. This experience made me realize how interesting and dynamic the Asian countries are and definitely contributed to my passion for traveling and getting to know other cultures.

Why did I choose Roland Berger Strategy Consultants?

My decision to join the consulting family was mainly driven by the opportunity to work on a variety of projects in a large range of industries and to evolve in an international and challenging environment that gives you room to go the extra-mile, think out of the box and learn fast. Besides these aspects, I also consider the cultural fit with the company as a key element.

My preference for Roland Berger has been triggered by a nice recruiting event at a restaurant. This was a great opportunity to meet consultants in an informal setting and get to know the company more in detail. What I immediately noticed and appreciated the most was the great atmosphere as well as the young and positive dynamic prevailing amongst Roland Berger colleagues.

Today, I am even more convinced to have made the right decision when joining the company. The core values of Roland Berger are perfectly in line with my personal ambitions and I really enjoy working on a day-to-day basis in such a dynamic environment with outstanding colleagues.

My recent activities/accomplishments within Roland Berger Strategy Consultants

When I joined Roland Berger in October 2011, I immediately took off to Munich for a two-week kick-off training with new joiners from all around the world. Right after this very enriching experience, I started my first assignment for a global banking group. Our mission there covered a large variety of topics, with interactions with numerous stakeholders from different departments, levels and backgrounds. Rapidly, I could operate in a very autonomous way and I had the opportunity to independently give presentations to the client. I have been really amazed by how fast I could learn in such a challenging environment.

Working for Roland Berger also means taking part in the office. Besides my projects, I also recently joined the recruiting team and contributed to the organization of our very exciting 'Champagne Tasting' recruiting event.
